How to Set Your Oven to Bake

To set your oven to Bake mode:

1. Insert your food.
2. Press the Bake button on the front of your oven.
3. Set a Temp.
4. Set a Time (if not preheating).
5. Press Start.

For the Smart Oven Air Fryer: Bake mode does not use any convection fan. This will be similar to cooking in a regular, non-convection oven.

For the Smart Oven Pro: Bake mode uses convection baking, meaning the convection fan evenly circulates heat for baking. Keep in mind that convection baking tends to cook food faster than non-convection baking. 

How do I preheat my oven?

Unlike conventional, full-size ovens, Tovala Smart Ovens do not need to be preheated before you add your food. However, there is a preheat option if you'd prefer to cook your food that way. 

If you're baking delicate items or following the manufacturer's instructions for cooking a non-scannable grocery item and would like to preheat your oven before baking, follow these steps. 

1. Press the Bake button on the front of your oven.
2. Set your desired Bake mode Temperature.
3. Press Start. (Make sure your food is NOT inserted yet.)
• You'll see the message “Preheat Estimate” in the Time display screen, along with an estimated countdown telling you how much longer it'll take your oven to preheat.. Your oven will beep when the desired Temperature has been reached.
4. Once your oven reaches the desired Temp, add your food, set a Time, and press Start to begin baking.
• Your oven will hold the preheated temperature for 10 minutes after the “preheat” is completed and then automatically shut off if you never set a Time or press Start.
