To air fry in your Tovala Smart Oven, you must use the air fry basket and sheet tray.
- Place the sheet tray on the oven rack. The oven rack must be in the lowest rack position with the curved edges facing down.
- Note: It's important to use the sheet tray when air frying in order to catch rendered fat, excess crumbs, or other food debris that will come off food while air frying.
- Place food in the air fry basket. For best results, place food in a single layer leaving space between pieces. Then insert the air fry basket above the oven rack in the middle rack position. Do not overfill the air fry basket or food may not cook correctly.
- Press Bake on your oven, set your desired Temperature and Time, then press Start.
- While some air fry manufacturers recommend to lower the recipe temperature by 25 degrees, we suggest using the same recipe temp and following the air frying guidelines included with the oven.
- Remove food promptly when cooking is complete.
To achieve the best possible results:
- Make sure your air fry basket is not overfilled. When the basket is overfilled, air is not able to properly circulate around your food, resulting in less crispy food. For best results, cover the bottom of your basket with just one layer of food with the pieces not touching.
- Do not use too much oil. Too much oil will make your food less crispy.
For extra crispy meals, try preheating your oven! To do this, select Bake mode and set your desired Temperature and press Start. The message “Preheat Estimate” will appear in the Time display and begin an estimated countdown to when the Temperature you’ve set will be reached. Your oven will send a notification and beep accordingly when the desired Temperature has been reached. Insert your air fry basket on the middle rack position, set a Time, and press Start. Your oven will hold the desired Temperature for 10 minutes after preheat is complete and then automatically shut off if you never set a Time or press Start.
