How does my Smart Oven Pro cook with steam?
Your Smart Oven Pro's Steam mode combines steam with convection baking for dynamic wet heat that preserves the moisture in food or adds moisture back into already-cooked food.
When using this mode, your oven heats up the steamer (located toward the rear of your oven's interior), then releases water from the water reservoir into the steamer to create steam.
- (Always make sure the water reservoir is filled with water before cooking with Steam mode. If there is not enough water in your oven to produce steam, it will let you know by displaying “Add Water” on the Temp display.)
How much steam should I see my oven release inside the oven chamber?
Not as much as you might think, so don't be alarmed if you don't see a lot of visible steam inside your oven when cooking with Steam mode. Your oven releases just enough to make the inside of your oven "humid" and add back/preserve the moisture in your food. It doesn't take very much to benefit from steam's magic when you cook.
Where does my oven vent steam from?
Steam escapes from a vent located in the back left corner of the oven. Steam may also escape from around the top of the door seal.
This helps better distribute the steam within the oven chamber and prevents the oven from issuing out a lot of steam all from one place. The oven is calibrated to replace steam as needed so your food always cooks the way it’s supposed to, regardless of how much steam is released or where the steam is coming out.
