1. When will you be making more groceries available to cook via barcode?
- We're actively working on adding more to our database. Check our list again in the near future!
2. Are all items from these brands available? If not, how do I know which ones are?
- Only some items from our supported brands have available cook cycles. In the Groceries tab of the Tovala App, you can scan the item's barcode or search the item's name to check if your item is supported.
3. If a specific grocery item isn't available in your database, can I still cook it using the Tovala Smart Oven?
- You can cook any grocery store item with baking instructions in the Tovala Smart Oven (just like you would in a regular oven). If a specific grocery item doesn't exist in our database, simply follow the conventional oven instructions provided by the manufacturer. You can use the buttons on your oven to set a mode, temperature, and time, or use the app to create a custom cook cycle.
4. What are the benefits of cooking via barcode in the Tovala Smart Oven vs. cooking the same item in a regular oven?
- For one thing, we create custom cook cycles with built-in preheat, so there's one less thing for you to worry about. For another, our chefs carefully create the perfect cook cycle for every product, using the Tovala Smart Oven's ability to automatically switch between multiple cooking modes and temperatures–that means your food comes out better than it would in another oven.
5. When I cook groceries via barcode, can I ignore all the cooking instructions on the packaging?
- You can ignore the instructions that specify preheating, temperature, cook time, and oven rack location (cook on the center rack, etc.). However, for the best results, you should still follow any action instructions, including instructions for removing film, flipping, stirring, rotating, etc.
6. Does the Tovala Smart Oven always use multiple cooking modes when it cooks via barcode?
- Our chefs figure out what works best for each food. Sometimes that means using multiple steps with different cooking modes or temperatures, and other times the cook cycle may use only a single step. Either way, your food will come out exactly as our chefs intended.
